is the 3/16 mod safe
i had it on for a little while. it got my turbo spooling quicker, but it also spiked. i say try it for short while just to see how you like it. its going to cost less than 2 bucks anyway.

i have it on my car. it spikes on the boost gauage at wot, but
i cant feel it in the car..drives almost factory with a little more
pull. it benefits the car if you have only a few mods like
drop in filter and catback. uppipe, etc does not seem to
work well with this mod as the spool up is already pretty
quick.
no wavering or anything on my car. for $1.79, i think its worth
a try. i know im going to keep it on my car for another
couple of weeks...or more.

I think anyone who actually wants more power, if they go this route, play with the bleeder/constrictor for a few weeks and then get frustrated
Remember is a generlization, but it seems generally true.
I'd say its pretty darn safe, if you haven't modified the cars computer or fuel system at all. Just be sure you have a boost gauge. The ECU will failsafe you anyhow.
You should, however, start saving up now for a real electronic boost controller. Put aside $50 a month if you can and in a few months you'd have a good controller that can save you from ever having to worry about hitting the boost limit in the ECU. Best bang for the buck: I recommend the Blitz DSBC Spec-R.

I have had the 3/16 mod on my car since it was a month old the car is 1 year old now. It helped with the spool up of the turbo. I got a utec about a month ago and this mod was replaced with the 3/16 T that came with the utec. I dont see any spiking at all. IMHO i think that using a gallon of toulene has more of an effect on performance than the 3/16 mod.

..mod for over a year. I have heard the only problem is that after doing this mod the ECU recognizes the vacum change and starts to compensate for the dif. IMHO after having done this to my car such a long time ago there is honestly no noticable performance gain.
I agree with mmurray you will consistantly feel the dif. using toulene as opposed to the 3/16th mod.

Its pretty safe and your milage will vary, from others and from day to day depending on how your ECU has decided to deal with a vacuum loss and a boost increase and ambient air temp on this particular day. I'd say its pretty safe but I wouldnt muck with it unless you atleast have a boost gauge. If you start playing with this stuff chances are you'll over-boost, you'll crap your pants when the BOV dumps and assume its detonation (because you've never heard real detonation before
. Even if you know what a BOV dump sounds like, its still unnerving. Entering that situation is relatively safe, but still dumb to constantly repeat
Its a fun little mod that can produce a hefty bang for a teeny buck. But don't swear by it. What I would swear by for the 3/16 mod is this, you'll learn something about boost and how boost control works if you play with it enough. It will lead you to purchase some real boost control. I started with the 3/16th's mod and then in the same vein graduated to the T bleeder. I got tired of over-boosting or under-boosting as the weather changed so I got a MBC. Same difference really. I decided to stop screwing around and bought a Blitz DSBC Spec-R. One of the best purchases I've made so far.
Hope this helps.
