2002 WRX - engine runs hot (was: Belts?)
2002 WRX - engine runs hot (was: Belts?)
Hopefully this is the right place for this, My 2002 WRX is running a little hot (between third and red indicator lines on temp gauge) when i am on the freeway and accelerate hard in town. There is no leakage under the hood and coolant levels are staying good. It has been squeaking and power steering has been shuddering when car is cold, my question is: could a bad belt be the cause for squeaking and rise in temperature? Car has 155K on it, and I replaced the radiator and thermostat about 9 months ago... Thanks everyone

Havent changed it, it has been running very well up until now. I was driving it around yesterday and noticed that the higher the RPMs the cooler it would get. On the freeway in fifth at about 70 it would get the hottest but downshifting would cool it off, im puzzled..
Alright, replaced the water pump, thermostat, timing belt and tensioner, car runs like a dream!!! thank you for the input, it was the water pump. love this forum!
