Engine/Power - EJ20T (pre-2006 WRX and JDM) There is replacement for displacement, it is forced induction - OEM 2.0 liter turbo engines in the USDM WRX. 90-94 Legacy Turbo EJ22 turbo engines can also be discussed here.

2.2 stroker

Has anyone converted a USDM EJ20 to a 2.2L? I'm not planning on doing any such thing this year, but was wondering for maybe a future project.

You can put an EJ25 crank in the EJ20, but I'm not sure of the exact displacement you'd get. Have to work the numberes... give me a few.

It would be a 2.1 liter motor with an EJ25 crank. You would get more out of stroking the EJ22, or by boring out the EJ20 a few millimeters.

Have you seen anyone that has bored out the ej20?

COBB has a 2.2 stroker kit for $1895, but I wonder if it would be easier/cheaper/stronger just to get a ej22?

An EJ22 shortblock is about $1900 from a dealer, and it's stronger than the EJ20, so yes to the last question.
