supra mk3 vs wrx

alright well heres the thing, my friend just got a mk3 supra turbo and has intake and cat back on it. of course natuarlly he wants to race me. ive got a 2002 wrx wagon w/ txs turbo back, cobb stage 2 access port, and a rear swaybar, and 17in. wheels. i was just wondering what the results maybe. he was also saying about how he could make approx. 600 horses with just a new turbo and supporting parts. my #2 question is: the wrx w/ a new turbo (ie vf34) makes about 350 right? why is it that the wrx is harder to mod for much higher horse power. by the way im not complaining at all about the wrx, im just curious.

thanks
toby

Hmmm,

because the Supra is a 3.0 liter? No replacement for displacement, especially when both are turbocharged.

It's a 3.0, it's lower compression, and has a high redline. It's just a very different motor.

Actually I am almost positive the problem I have is not with the head gasket. I've been told that there is a coolant channel on the top of the block where the head bolts up and after some miles (180k in my case) that channel will get a low spot and the only way to fix it is to mill the block. My car is a 1990 N/A Supra and I'm tearing the motor out as we speak.

There is no question in my mind that a WRX will kill a mk3 supra when it comes to auto cross.

thats great to hear, my friend actually guessed that his car may be running at about 280ish horse power but i dont know how accurate that is. im putting my suspension in at his shop and then we'll see which car/driver is the better/luckier one. ill keep you posted.
