water temp sending unit

where is the water temperature sending unit on a 2000 rs. im trying to install a mechanical gauge but cant find the sending unit and i cant find any repair manuals for sale. thanks for any help.

Car Info: 02 Black Legacy GT

The water temp sending unit is on the upper water pipe. The pipe that is bolted to the top of the block. You can see the sensor if you look under the alternator.
