Stock ECU and stage 4 plus

I have been driving at this stage with 800cc injectors with my stock ecu.

Shouldn't my gas mileage be affected? I don't drive in boost and my mpg is normal.

Should I be worried? I don't have knock.

You don't have the Xede on?

I wouldn't be worried, because while I have no idea what the inner-operations of the stock ECU are, I have a feeling that it's 'self-learning' goes beyond just switching between the hi-detonation and lo-detonation maps, meaning that your ECU could be compensating.

I would also imagine that when you're not in boost, the pulses or signal that the ECU is sending to the injectors probably doesn't result in much more gasoline pumped to the cylinder, be it stock 440 lpm or your 800's.

Here's a related thread over at Nabisco

Thumbs up

Thanks Pat! I feel reassured now.

P.S. My Xede is still at Vishnu.

800cc injectors on the stock ECU??
That's nuts! I can't believe it works.

To be honest, if you would've asked me the same question, but hadn't yet installed them, I would've told you you're crazy. But the fact that your mileage and the way the engine is operating haven't changed, and that you're not driving in boost reassures me that it shouldn't be a concern.

Okay, I was wrong. My gas light went on at 198 miles.

My mpg has gone down. I was deceived when I read the mileage at 124 and the gas only read half tank.

350 total break-in-miles without a knock!

Oh yeah, I'm also running with a 2.5l STi shortblock, ported WRX heads, Perrin fuel rails, and a fmic with the stock ecu and the car starts on the first crank without problems.

I do have a lot of back fire that lights up my rear end at night. It scared a ricey looking Altima away.
