should i stick with the piggyback?
Bought my ride with the piggyback and i had it taken off because it kept throwing my "CEL''. I think it was originally loaded for the set up it had before it was sold. Now i can't get a hold of the guy that had the car before me so i could ask him where he purchased it from
All i have is:PDE up/down pipe, greddy axle back, cai, hyper ground wires, blitz sbc i-d & power meter, bov.
I'm pretty sure this is a stage 2 setup
I'd like to know if i could get the piggyback tuned, will it suffice?
MAHALO

Cobb Tuning AccessPORT.
You live where there are no AWD dynamometers. With true engine management, you can lose that boost controller and gain more power. Cobb should have a map that will work with everything you have except for that intake.
Other members have reported that some shops such as Turbo XS have gotten away from the piggyback Unichip and the subsequent re-flashing of those units.

Tuners used it only because there were few alternatives. Now there are plenty, and the best of those is a reflash
Reflashes work well, but now most manufacters have got their fixes for the problems the new year WRX's
Utec.....fixed their problems with the 04's running open loop
Vishnu....works fine on my 04
Cobb...made a unit that is a glorified reflasher, but your limited to what Cobb has already tested on another vehicles.
Not all vehicles are made the same...run the same...nor have the same tuning envolved when upgraded. Keep this in mind when thinking of a reflash
If you do reflash you pay for it. Then later you want to do an exhaust...well you need another reflash. You want to add a bigger turbo and injectors. Another reflash. Lots of $$$
When you reflash the ECU in regards to tuning for a upgraded turbo you definatley need to tweek the tuning. Fuel maps, timing, boost settings, all these need to be accounted for on an individual car basis.....where you can't do that with a reflash
This is why I don't feel a reflash is a great idea....but thats just me

And no you don't pay lots of dollars getting second reflashes or third. If you decide to do the Cobb Tuning way, you send your ECU, $400 for the initial reflash, $20 for the next reflashes when you upgrade later on.
An even better alternative which is what I'm doing is the Accessport. For $600, you basically do the reflashes on your own. Switch real time maps on the fly. Later down the road, when you do decide to upgrade, all you have to do is download the maps you need from their website, and its all for free. On top of all that, it's also and OBD2 scanner and real time boost gauge.
