Engine/Power - EJ20T (pre-2006 WRX and JDM) There is replacement for displacement, it is forced induction - OEM 2.0 liter turbo engines in the USDM WRX. 90-94 Legacy Turbo EJ22 turbo engines can also be discussed here.

remap is when u send ur ecu to have the mapping changed(timing, ignition, a/f ratio etc) and a piggyback ecu hooks up to ur current ecu and takes over a few functions while letting the ecu take care of the basics. remaps cost $ everytime u send ur ecu in but are specific to your mods, while piggybacks' maps n stuff can be dloaded ...even though they dont have as many features and are sometimes harder to use...dont quote me on any of that...ive hear all that a longggg time ago so it may not all be right

that sounds like you've nailed it on the money there. i had the unichip a longggg time ago also. got rid of it and did a reflash. one of the best things i did yet.

if you plan to do MANY mods over a long period of time buy a used piggyback for as little $ as possible(or just keep reseting the stock ECU till you get to the big mods) and then go for a reflash from vishnu, cobb, or turboxs (i think has one also)

yeh, you are right.. power is like crack..... unfortunately, the ej20 will only give so much power for so long before it goes pop too.

I too graduated from unichip to reflash... Car drives like a stock car with 290WHP

Even though you have to pay to get the ecu reflashed, I feel it is worth it since everytime I get it reflashed, the car is dynotuned also to maximize power and reliablity as well. In ither words, I don't trust my own abilities as a tuner
I'd rather let a pro get the job done for me
