Shop in SOCAL - Cobb Install and Tune

Hello,

Im very interested in getting the Stage 2 cobb setup for my 2005 wrx.

Firstly i'd like ot know if there is any engine internals, or injectors, fuel etc etc I need to buy before installing this setup.

Secondly. Is there a descent and fairly priced shop in Southern California (Orange County) that will install and tune this setup for me?

Please let me know.

Thank you for your time.

yo adamn, to run stage2, you do not need any tuning unless u get more than a turboback exhaust.

if you just have an accessport and tbe, you can install the cobb accessport yourself.. and load in the CA stage2 map.

its fairly simple. you will not get much gains from a tune if you only have a TBE. it will also cost you a few hundred bucks for only a few extra added hp.

if you want to tune it... here's a place.

Just to clear things up.

Your saying the stage 2 will not need to be installed by any shop. Just plug and play everything. The turbo back exhaust that comes with the $1700 kit and the kit itself DOES give you @285 HP but me going in and tuning isnt necessary?

Basically going to a place to tune is a waste of $$? Thats fine with me. I am going to get that stage 2 and the COBB TBE w/ the CAT converter. any HP diff with running the cat?

Thanks for your input.

HP Difference is pretty much negligible. You need the downpipe and catback installed by a shop if you don't have the mechanical know how, and you are able to use the cobb access port to load in the stage 2 map yourself; its a handheld device that plugs into your OBDII port. If you want a protune, you would have to find a protuner.

since you are from CA, you will need to load in the Stage2 CA map into your accessport. you can go to the cobb website and download this map.

i had trouble at first trying to sync the AP to my computer, but found out i needed to press a few buttons on the AP to set uplink mode to the computer.

go to the cobb website, download the stage2 CA map, and load it into your accessport.

after you install your turbo back, you can then load the accessport into your car. all the directions are in the manual. a turboback is not necessary for stage2.. a downpipe is enough for stage2.

the stage2 map is a custom tuned map for a turboback. so you wont need a protune from a shop, unless you want a few extra HP... for $400-500 it'll cost for that, i dont think its worth it unless u get more engine mods.

also as for the cobb package, i think its a rip off, unless u really want to stick with the cobb brand.

I bought my 04 sti accessport brand new for $600 shipped. a new helix catless downpipe is an extra $200.. puts me right at stage2 at $800. though i wont get 285 to the wheels, i'll get about 260-270, which is still plenty, and still fast as hell and wont get me a ticket cuz its still quiet ;p

Protunes do make a big difference, especially starting at stage 2. And afaik it shouldnt be 4-500..more like 2-300.
