Cool Reflash/tuning stock (w/aftermarket exhaust)

has anyone gotten a reflash/tune on a stock car with just catback
I don't wanna mess with the cats but just looking for something to give more uumph without taking out the cats. is there anything bad that can happen with a reflash/tune? Do I have to reflash/tune again when if I decide to trade in my wrx?

thanks

From what i understand a reflash + tune can be done at any point and is actually recommended for getting the most out of your car.

Do you know how much they are and what you can expect from a stock car after getting reflashed?

Anyone have experience with this?

There are many options.... Access Port from Cobb, TurboXS UTEC, EcuTek... the list is long.... all viable options and specific to where you want to go with the modifications of your car. I'm getting mine done 2maro by Shiv at Turbotrix .... doing the EcuTek reflash and dyno tune... and by one of the best in the industry. I plan on heavily modifying my car and keeping it for a while. With a good tuner and the right EM system ive heard of cars making 40 to 60 HP increases..... and thats insane. To me just shy of a turbo, injectors, FP, and intercooler upgrades thats the single best Mod you can give your car.... hands down. Not just anyone can do the tune however there are licencing fee's as it relates to the software that is used to do the tuning; at least as it relates to EcuTek... however UTEC is fully user tunable if you trust yourself not to accidently blow up your car..

Do a search on the board for more specific info .... there's tons of information.

I got a EcuTek reflash on my 02 WRX with only a shortram filter and a cat-back. I had some good gains with a dyno tune. My first run with those two mods in place only put down about 163whp. That was rather dissappointing, but after the tunning session, I walked away with 199whp. So, it seemed to work out quite nice for me in the end. I've also upgraded my intercooler since then, so things might be better now.

I went with a TurboXS Hyperflow TMIC. I haven't had another dyno day yet to see how much of an improvement was made. I still have my stock up and down pipe in.

I have a 02 WRX with a cat back, the intake silencer mod and I used my accessport to flash a Cobb stage1 map http://cobbtuning.com/wrx/images/ae-stage1-dyno.jpg. I am very happy with the performance gain even though I will not be getting as much as if I had the car custom tuned. I just bought a TBE and now I will be able to flash stage 2 http://cobbtuning.com/wrx/images/ae-stage2-dyno.jpg. When the access tuner comes out I will trade in the port and have Ron at Axis power raceing set me up with a custom tune (If he will do it with the Access Tuner). If you do any tuneing you may want to buy an egt gauge especially if you go with an off the shelf map like I did.

I-speed charges $750 for a reflash, but I'd make sure you get all the parts on you want first. I only need to get a downpipe and then I can finally get my reflash.
