the real deal with the unichip

okay well i know everyone is going to tell me to get a cobb accessport but the fact is my funds are low and my friend is willing to sell his stage 2 turbo xs unichip for 200$. i have been in his car with the unichip and it seems to give significant gains but i dont know much about the unichip no one seems to use them anymore. will the unichip give me alot of power? is it safe and realiable?

I'll bite....

Contact UNICHIP USA. They will provide a list of local tuners in your area that can custom tune the UNCHIP for you. The main chip in the TXS Setup is a DASTEK UNICHIP (D12) that is still being sold by UNI. USA.

In all honesty, that Unichip is not worth $200. If your funds are low, wait a while and save up for proper engine management. The Unichip was a temporary solution for the WRX back in 2002 until something more refined was available. You now have some excellent choices (ECUtek reflash, Cobb Accessport, UTEC, Xede) which, while 2x or 3x the cost of your friend's Unichip, perform 10x better.

Besides that, you'll be hard pressed to find Subaru tuners who still use the Unichip or even have the hardware and software to reflash one.

Exclamation whut he sad

yeah, I bought a couple of older unichips from Ebay only to find out they were not programmable; not only that, they REALLY DO NOT FIT M.Y. 03-newer. bad idea.

AND, $200 is WAY too much, more like $50, but it probably won't do for your car what it did for his.

just my opinion
