They don't all work the same.
Accessport and the UTEC offer much more than the SAFC and unichip. The Accessport allows you to reflash maps that change various different attributes on your ECU. The UTEC is a piggy back computer that can be programmed with various different maps that change various different attributes as well. The SAFC is exactly what it says it is .... it is used to control the air-to-fuel ratio (at various different rpms). Unichip is a piggy back chip which is old-skool and pretty much defunct .... reason being it can not exactly replicate signals going to and from the ECU, thus leading to hesitation. The Accessport and UTEC are the best of the bunch because they give you the ability to load any map for any desired level of mods. Also they let you control various different aspects/settings, such as boost, air-to-fuel, knock threshold, ignition timings, etc to get the maximum amount of power from the mods that are installed. Another such device is the Vishnu XEDE which is very similar to the UTEC which I consider among the best (could it be because I own one?)....
Hope that helps

Why the EVO and not the STI? Do you plan on running Vishnu stage 2 (1/4 mile in 11.6-11.2)

The best management is the one that still uses all the stock ECU's features. Though I am bias and admit it, I love the EcuTeK relfash for what it is. The piggyback systems are also a good solution, but I still don't really trust them as much as a standalone, like the stock ECU with a reflash. Then there are standalone system's which have there good and bad points, I would suggest doing a little research on all of them and see what you like and don't like. Find out what you want in a system and narrow down what works for you. This will give you most satisfaction at the end of the day.

Cheers,
