Knock detection

Does anyone know of a cheap way to detect and/or record knock (other than listening for it)?
Is there some type of obd2 software I can run on a laptop?
I also have an access port and an obd2 scanner available

Ecu explorer from tari will log your knock through the obdII port with the accessport cable. you can get ecu explorer here http://www.tari.co.za/download/insta...er.v3.0.25.exe

FYI, the "knock signal" field as reported by the ECU is close to useless. The only time it will report actual knock is if it happens exactly at the same time as the software is recording the data sample. Considering the relatively slow sample rate of the software and relatively high frequency of knock, it is not likely that the two will coincide. The only way to tell if there is knock from logs is by looking at the knock correction field and referencing it to the actual dynamic advance table. The problem with that is that you have to have access to your actual map, so only the tuner can actually know for sure.
