How-to Subaru Tuning Book ??????
Does anyone know of a good tuning reference guide or book I can buy to learn how to tune my own car using street tuner? I'am already familiar with the mechanics and how the car works, I've just never tuned an ECU or build a MAP before. I own a COBB AP, and I'am ready to take it to the next level.

Read books on fuel injection design. I don't know if there are many good books on the subject of tuning modern fuel injection systems. It's almost like a black art.
Make friends with a reputable Subaru tuning facility in your area and pay him for a tune. Ask him questions if it doesn't interfere with his work.

Thanks for all the info. I will definitely look into both the books mentioned. I was also thinking of taking a close look at the differences in map values between economy, stage 1 & 2 maps using there software. Hopefully I can figure out there method of increments on different applications.
There is so much more involved than just comparing values between the 2 maps... lots of underwork leading to the surface that you see... trust me. Nothing can substitute reading then experiencing with failure many times

I agree. I would read anything I could get my hands on covering current fuel injection systems and theory, as well as engine tuning in general. I would then make friends with a reputable local tuner and, if it's possible, ask questions without intruding on his time (or breaking his concentration), even better if he would allow you to be present while he tunes a customer car. Benefit from their tuning experience so that you don't melt a hole in the piston of your daily driver.
If you really feel that you just have to fiddle with something, make changes in very small increments and look for signs of distress like audible or measurable engine detonation or odd deposits on spark plugs or rough running. Even then, it's not a guarantee that you've made safe changes if you can't hear detonation. It might occur in a very small RPM range only under full throttle. Be cautious...
