You may be thinking of Alexander Graham Bell, inventor of the telephone, or something like that (haven't done a Google search). I think that Bell is the reason why the original Bell Telephone and its children (Pacific Bell, SBC, etc.) were named thusly.
The book author is a different guy.

how come the name A Graham Bell sounds so familiar. is he famous for anything else?
You may be thinking of Alexander Graham Bell, inventor of the telephone, or something like that (haven't done a Google search). I think that Bell is the reason why the original Bell Telephone and its children (Pacific Bell, SBC, etc.) were named thusly.
