Question HKS Catless Exhaust burned out temperature sensor circuit...

I have an HKS up-pipe, down-pipe, and exhaust, all without cats. This caused my exhaust temperature sensor circuit to burn out and give me the "check engine light". Does this sensor need to be replaced? or is it just warning me that something might be wrong with the cats that I no longer have?

If it does not need to be replaced and the car can still be driven, is there a way I can get rid of the check engine light for good for this particular problem?

thanks,
~david

It didn't "burn out" it is just not reading what the ECU is expecting it to. Get the uppipe EGT sensor resistor and the mechanical fix for the downpipe O2 sensor and you should be okay.

Can you please link me to a web site that sells those two parts you mentioned?

Just go to Radio Shack for the 2.2k ohm, 1/2 watt resistor for the uppipe EGT plug. then get a mechanical CEL fix from www.gruppe-s.com

got to autozone and get the parts to make a mechanical o2 fix and radioshack for the resistor. this is the cheapest way to fix the issues but works.

Here's what you need for uppipe and downpipe
Uppipe
M12X1.25 Bolt To plug EGT Bung in uppipe $1.00
2.2k ohm resistor to plug into the EGT Sensor plug. $1.25

Downpipe
Motormite or Help! M18 Spark Plug non fouler 2 Pack $3.50
Instructions Drill out 1 non fouler to 1/2"
Screw o2 sensor into modified non fouler
screw that into the unmodified non fouler and then into the o2 bung on the downpipe
