First off, I drive a 2005 Stage 2 WRX. So I had been noticing a coolant smell in my exhaust recently and when I was letting my car warm up this morning I noticed a little but of steam coming from the passenger side. So I popped the good and saw just a little bit of steam rising from the passenger side. I couldn't tell if it was dripping from some of the hoses and falling into the head, or if it was the head itself. I also noticed a couple of drops on the ground. A friend and I jacked it up and noticed on the passenger side head, just a drop or 2 of coolant around the head. He said I might have a cracked water pump. Which is confusing to me because a new engine was installed professionally and it only has 8,000 on all brand new OE parts. The only thing not brand new is the heads. But they were rebuilt by COMPTECH in Sacramento. So I guess my question is, could it be that? Or could it be leaking from somewhere else? And I'm also not over heating at all. It stays at the same heat and I make sure to check my coolant level everyday. Another thing I noticed while under there I saw a little bit of oil by the driver side cam seal. Which also made me think I need new seals. So does anyone have any ideas? Had the same problem? Etc?

 

On the passenger side back of the head 2 main coolant passages run straight to the turbo inlet and outlet hose's, also check the turbo expansion coolant tank make sure its full if u had a blown gasket u would have a sweet smell outta da exhaust only if u overhead the **** outta ur car need more info !!!!!!!

 

I found it! It was a loose radiator hose that connects to the block on the top and it was leaking! Problem adverted

Seriously though...I knew it couldn't be too bad because I wasn't overheating or anything.
