Question Help PLEASE DAD put wrong GAs in car.

I have a 2003 WRX and my Dad put 87 in my car one day and I drove on it for about a 1/2 tank with it not knowing. But my question is my car feels a little slower what happened and how do I fix it????

Thanks,

Doug

one tank...you'll be fine...running the car on lower octane for a long time would be bad...but you'll be safe. if you are nervous, fill the other half of the tank with 91....it'll average out to 89

Dude your car is FUBAR!

Holy crap! I can't believe your dad did that to you...you're car is basically gonna die in about 40-50 miles. Good luck on that engine rebuild.

Just playin'

You could probably go right now and throw in a good octane booster and fill the rest of the tank with premium and you should be fine.

correct me if im wrong but cant you buy some octane booster to mix with lower octane gas to get it up to where it should be. do a search on google or yahoo for it, i think you can buy it at any autoparts store.

edit:
dammit, beat me to the punch, i hate it when that happens.

If you can find some, throw a couple gallons of 100+ octane race gas to even things out.

And once you have good fuel, reset the ECU (disconnect the battery) so it relearns properly

Yeah you'll be fine. Just try and stay off boost until this tank is burnt out due to knock reasons. If you're really that worried about it you could use an MMT based octane booster. I used the NOS not-street-legal variant and it def. works.

I was really out of it today and accidentally put in 87 :-\ I went to AutoZone and got some STP Octane Boost and put it in when I got home...hopefully everything will be ok though

Just take it easy on the throttle until the tank of fuel is low enough to fill up with premium again. The only drawback to topping off a tank of 87 octane with a bottled booster is that it doesn't mix as thoroughly as adding the booster first, then pumping the gas.
