Finally got an AP, but I'm only boosting to 13 psi???

So I just got a Cobb AP for my 04 wrx. It's stock except for a catback. I flashed my ECU with the Stage 1 CA 91 base map. I used the AP to read my boost levels, and the highest I saw was about 13.7 psi. I did a few third gear and 4th gear pulls and thats the highest number I saw. I didn't notice a huge improvement in performance like I was expecting, but maybe it's because I'm not boosting enough?

So, where should I start looking to fix this problem. Thanks

Wink

with Stage 1 you WONT see a huge improvement, but for sure its more smoother in accelaration and definetly drivable (of course you have an increase in HP and TRQ). I think u are hitting boost target...now remember boost target for stage 1 is 13.5 -/+7 something like that. remember if you live in different altitude (land level), you will see different values. wat part of cali are u in?

IF your really concern about boost try regular 91oct map (not cali). there a chance that you might get knocks tho, or just dont get any cheap gas station, (i would prefer shell, chevron and 76).

IF you want big improvement...then you want to jump to Stage 2! with protune..for sure you WILL love your Car.. you can gain up to 30 or more wheel HP and torque!

The map notes say
Target boost pressure is 14.7psi +/- 0.5psi depending on vehicle and conditions.
So I'm pretty close, but still not there, even with the at the low end. I'll wait a couple weeks, and then bump the thread for help if I still can't hit target boost.

I have an 06 with stage 1 and it is boosting around 14 peak and staying around 13.2-13.5. Even though the boost isnt much more than stock, the overall powerband is much better.

How are you gauging the boost?

It appears the correct way is to get up-to fifth gear on the freeway (while being around +4k rpms) then back down to 2500-3000rpms, then roll-on the throttle until the boost needle stops climbing.......And that is what your full boost reading should be.

If I am wrong...Someone please let me know!

I did it in third, 13.7 peak, 13.1 steady
4th was 14.2 peak, 13.2 steady
didnt do it in 5th because a few cops were in view.

I have heard that 4th will give you the best boost numbers, but never have checked 5th so Im not sure.

its been my experience that 5th wot will give you the max boost pressure. i was hitting similar #s and thought it was a low boost thing. then i got on hwy 5 with open road and gunned it on 5th gear. hit close to 15/16 psi on stage 1 ca 91. you just need a good amount of open highway.

Stock boost is around 13.5 but you will see more in cold weather.

1 bar = 14.503 773 801 pound/square inch

14.7psi (depending on vehicle and conditions)= STI

WRX should see 13.5psi +/- .5 psi

whats the difference between the cali map and the regular base map on the AP? i live in cali, so will i get knocking if i dont use the cali map? i drive pretty easy but sometimes push it at some moments and use only chevron.
