cobb ap and xpt map question

as the title says i have a question about stage 1 for a 2002 wrx.

Now at the moment, my car has the SPT intake and a straight pipe for a catback (went to my local muffler shop and had them custom make me a catback that is basically a pipe with a muffler tip on it, no muffler)

so my question is,

if i do either a cobb ap stage 1 flash or go with the xpt stage 1 map, will these two mods make any difference, be a prob, be a positive.

Info please!!

Please do not tell me to search, because I have tried and couldn't come up with the answer to my specific question thanks guys!

^^ so with the SPT intake and catback, I would have to get rid of those to go with the stage 1 map from either of xpt or cobb??

you can use your aftermarket catback with stage 1, but im not sure about the intake...i honestly don't think it will cause any problems but like I said I dont know too much about that in regards to the intake

yea ok. Thanks for the info.

Anyone else know for sure about the intake?!!?

I'm thinking about asking some of local vendors for their input as well, just to make sure.

Thanks again!

I have tried XPT, Cobb stage 2 and PDX map. And I can tell you XPT is way better even they are all OTS map. They all have very good customer service but or it just me dont have that much lucky with Cobb and PDX. They knock like crazy! But XPT works fine.

Intake should be fine, all the OTS maps are very conservative. I recommend XPT though.

I think I read on the XPT discussion page that Stage 2 is a TBE and stock intake with silencer delete and a drop in panel filter (like K+N or Perrin). You can get the Perrin off Ebay for like $30.

I just got my Tactrix cable in the mail, will be doing the DIY reflash to XPT stage 2 very soon!

Nice ^^ I think I read that they tested the CAI on there and it was fine as well. Why bother though, if the stock holds up?

xpt map is similar to AP however you don't have to pay 600 something to buy the AP. Plus Cobb will not review your data log and do revision for you. You do need a Tatrix cable and a laptop. XPT review my logs and send me updates. But now I am running Open Source and got a custom road tune and my car is running super nice!

Haven't checked here in awhile and have noticed some new posts. Thanks for all the replies guys. Since money is tight as a college student, I'm thinking about going with the XPT, but since you don't gain too much from stage 1, I'm thinking I'll just throw down a few extra and get the full TBE and then go stage 2! Thanks again guys!

Youll need a catless upipe or a gutted stock one to run the xpt stage 2 map.
