By how much can the performance increase in terms of HP? and will this void my warranty? If i decide to do this and change my mind later will my car suffer after affects of the chip removal or will every thing be the same.?
Thanks for the input!

There is no 'chip' persay in regards to a subaru.

Here are your options.

1. piggyback ECU
2. standalone ECU
3. Reflashed ECU

Now you're probably thinking along the lines of a GIAC chip or similar. The reflashed ECU is roughly the same but instead of soldering in a new EPROM, the subaru ECU does not have any servicable replaceable parts. The whole ecu gets rewritten.

check out www.cobbtuning.com or www.ecutek.com for their reflash services. Both are good, both make more power for stock cars and modified cars. But there is quite a big difference in features and what you can do with one over the other... hence the price difference.

Yes. By using the reflash-type ecu, you can return back to stock at anytime.
