yes.. its a lack of backpressure combined with an inefficient wastegate

same on the 04-05 that didn't have the larger exhaust housing

Think its slightly larger than the FXT turbo..... im planning on getting the AP as soon as possible. I dont think im gonna bother trying to port the stock turbo, if i take the time to remove it im just gonna put something bigger in its place i guess..... the good news is there was an up-pipe hiding in the foam peanuts i didnt pay for.......

A tune solves the boost creep issues on 99% of the cars. The last 1% requires an actual porting of the wastegate. Which TBE did you get?

Thanks

One thing to make sure is that the wastegate isn't being interferred with by the downpipe. Pop off the c-clip and make sure the wastegate swings freely. If it does, then you need to get an AP and tune asap.

Thanks

Yeah i dont think the DP is interfering at all... i compared it to the stock before i put it on and if anything it should give the wastegate more room rather than less... my cel turned off after i started+turned off my car a few times so i went for another high speed test and i didnt hit overboost until mid 5th gear rather than end of 3rd/early 4th like it was before..?? maybe the ecu is starting to compensate?

The ECU could be adjusting slightly, but I would highly recommend not going WOT if you're seeing inconsistant boost levels like that. Hitting boost cut is also not too great for the drivetrain.

Yeah ive been going easy, i only really got on it cause i noticed the cel went out & wanted to see what would happen... the overboost shouldnt have any ill effects right? i know this turbo is pretty small for the engine could it even make enough boost to be dangerous?

It sure can, 8psi with the wrong tune could kill the engine. It is not too much pressure that causes the problem it is not being tuned for the conditions the car is seeing.
