Battery problem... wrong forum?

I'm just wondering. I have an 02 WRX and I just had to replace the battery. I have a big stereo, but everything was installed correctly. Does anyone know why this would happen? ( the battery was completely dead) I'm worried if I have a short somewhere. I have to do a cross country trip with this car in a few months. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Do you have a capacitor. Chances are that you system draws way too much on your battery. It shouldn't be much of a problem when you are driving, but when you are idling it will probably drain, and if you listen to it with the car off it will definitely drain. You may want to get a cap. if you don't have one because it allows a fairly high voltage to be stored for your amp to draw when it hits. Other than that if your system is insanely huge you may want to get a battery just for the amp and subs.
Hope this helps.

if you let it run completly dead a few times, chances are it might not charge anymore. and your stereo probably puts a beating on it, especially if you dont have a cap. if it gets run completly dead even once, it might not take a charge anymore, although it usually takes a few times on newer batteries.
