OK. After 6 months of fighting my lumpy idle due to after market cams and exhausting my 'in shop' tuner options for my '05 Fly By Wire NA 2.5 I have been convinced to download ECU Explorer and get the FBW cable from Tracrix.

This I have done. Since I am brain dead as a 'tuner' and love my Mac and feel retarded on PC, I have enlisted the help of one of our Suby Techs (yes, I work @ a dealership) to help me.

UPS came with the cable today and my tech downloaded the program. The big project is to simply lift the idle by 200 rpm (thus having a smoother idle and no longer throwing a 'misfire' CEL).

So, we get plugged in and the 1st page says 'disconnected'. We are still strong, no whimpering. Go to the 'instructions' as they are. It explains we need to 'right click' on the lower left hand box to pick our port. When we do this we get NO scroll down menu of choices ~ we are dead in the water.

The cable and software won't talk to the car... "Hello. We need to bump your idle... it won't hurt and will only take a minute."

Yes, we set the 'com settings' as well to 2048, 2048. 500, 1000 & 5000. Still no luck. Any help would be appreciated.

Does anyone remember when if you wanted to raise an idle, you simply turned a screw??? OK. Didn't think so...

Done. For the record the cable works perfectly with the software/car. BUT, you need to download ECU Flash from Enginuity for the cable driver (1.3). I raised my idle to 850 rpms and it no longer throws a 'misfire' CEL from my cams!

 

glad you got the tactrix cable working properly. i heard it was a tad tricky to use ecuexplorer/enginuity/tactrix cable with macs but dunno for sure...i just picked up a laptop locally for 200 bucks and am checking it out

so you didnt datalog or anything, just hooked it up and raised idle right? it would be kinda funny datalogging with pc

 

I used it as a simple 'idle screw' and turned it up 300 rpms.
