Any reported problems with K&N drop in?

I have searched the forums so if this is in the wrong place...sorry

I have recently heard of problems with the MAF while using a wet filter (K&N drop in). Some have reported that with time, some of the oil will accumulate on the MAF sensor causing serious problems and eventually needing replacement. If this is a true problem, is there a way to properly clean the MAF or is it such a sensitive piece we shouldnt touch it?

It has happened to some people, but if you buy a new k&n filter pre-oiled from the factory, it most likely wont happen. All the problems you hear of gunk building up on the MAF sensor was most likely because of people over oiling it when the clean it. Ive had one for around 10,000 miles and it hasnt cause me an problems. Removing the snorkus (look it up) and gettin a k&n drop in or perrin drop in filter is a very good effective mod.

I did the snorkus a while back and just put the K&N drop in filter a few weeks ago, then heard about the gunky buildup and had second thoughts to put the paper back in. The over oilling does make sense. I still wonder if you can clean the sensor if it looks dirty. Maybe with a cotton swab?

I just use the oem air filter cause its cheap and simple...and I would probably be one of the morons that over oils it. haha

the K&N works fine, just follow the directions when you clean it.
I've had one in for about 50K no problems at all
