Air Filter cover problem

I've the same problem w/ every scooby I've owned. The only way I was able to be sure it was properly closed was this:

There are 2 tabs on the drivers side of the filter cover that need to be inserted into the box before you can close the box so the clips will fit correctly.

If the airbox isn't fully seated with a K&N will this do much harm? I am in the same boat being unable to seat the airbox lid properly.

Yes it will let dirty air bypass. That's why I use the procedure in my link above. It's not really that hard to time consuming but you can be positive it's seated.

What filter part number did you get because K&N makes a proper sized filter, the 33-2232. I have no problem getting any filter into my box. There is a way to get it in an have it seal properly.

What you do is first put the tabs into the lower position of the box. Then slide the air filter in and as it is going in, close the upper portion of the box like a pacman mouth and it should sit properly at the end. You may have to wiggle the filter and box around but it should be able to sit properly without any problems.
