Air Filter cover problem

Is anyone else having a problem fully seating the Air Filter Cover correctly on their MY02 WRX?
Mine won't seem to sit into the two tabs at the bottom with the original or aftermarket filter installed.
Thanks for any help...

You need to loosen the 2 8mm bolts that are on the intake to get it to seat right. First get the 2 tabs inserted, and then reconnect the pipe that leads to the turbo. Don't worry, I'm sure that there is plenty of others out there that don't even know that their airbox isn't closed all the way.

I've the same problem w/ every scooby I've owned. The only way I was able to be sure it was properly closed was this:

There are 2 tabs on the drivers side of the filter cover that need to be inserted into the box before you can close the box so the clips will fit correctly.

What filter part number did you get because K&N makes a proper sized filter, the 33-2232. I have no problem getting any filter into my box. There is a way to get it in an have it seal properly.
What you do is first put the tabs into the lower position of the box. Then slide the air filter in and as it is going in, close the upper portion of the box like a pacman mouth and it should sit properly at the end. You may have to wiggle the filter and box around but it should be able to sit properly without any problems.

when I got my k n it had these complicated instructions on how to take the whole box out, seal it and then re install. I used the same info above using the same filter model number and it slid right in and sealed right. "closed it like a pac man mouth".
By the way has anyone had any gains from this?
