I went Ecutek custom tune, its simple and I have no need for multiple maps. With a custome tune, they both can have similiar results (depending on who tunes it).

If you even think you want multiple maps, go cobb with a protune. Prices are very similiar after dyno tuning. Good luck with your decision

I'd go with the AP route because you can choose from a bunch of off the shelf maps or get a custom tune.

Plus the AP is easier to uninstall and sell to someone else.

Both ECUtek and a custom map for AP will do pretty much the same as far as getting power out of the engine.

Ecutek if you want simplicity, Cobb if you want flexibility.

I would also take into consideration what the local tuners are licensed to tune. If you only have someone that tunes using EcuTek but you have the AccessPORT (or vice versa), you are stuck with an off-the-shelf tune and probably giving up some power and a bit of driveability.

Within a hundred miles of where I live, I have several tuners to choose from (Sacramento/S.F. Bay Area). Most of them are licensed to tune BOTH the Cobb and EcuTek systems. Life is good.

I would personally suggest the Cobb AP since you can run Cobb's base map for your current mods. If you were to ever upgrade and get a larger turbo (like a VF34 or larger) you can still switch base maps and drive the car. Even with the Cobb AP you can still get a custom Protune and have the same results as an Ecutek reflash. With up to 10 maps stored on a Cobb AP, you have tons of choices. Going to nice restuarant with valet, switch it to valet mode which limits RPM. Long road trip? Economy mode and save some gas.

Regards,
Preston

Is Ecutek working on a tuning device like the AP? If not their days might me numbered.
