i have a cheap bomz cold air intake on my car...recently, when i am stopped at lights and push my clutch in and sometimes without even pushing it in, my rpms go up to around 2,000 rpms sometimnes a little higher without pushing on the gas...my buddy said its the mass air flow sensor...so we cleaned it with rubbing alcohol and put it back on hoping it would fix it and it still does it...any ideas? thank you

 

vaccuume leak or a idle control valve going out

ya i had a cel and it was the air intake....i think the filter is full of crap...is stock air box just as good as cold air? meaning stock air box with like a perrin or sti filter?

 

stock box with paper filter is fine

 

problem is intake without being tuned for it = car running funny!

I had an intake installed on my car for about a week (long enough for ecu to learn or whatever), and took it off promptly....due to the car running funny!

and it wouldnt idle nice

hey sigma, haven't done anything yet, but to answer your 1st question on this thread, it only does it once it's warmed up..still maybe filter? couple nights ago it got up to 3k rpms while just idling at a light..
