WRX STi wagon
(Posted same message in STi countdown thread - not sure where is best).
OK, I'm new to this forum today. So please don't flame me if I'm (a) posting in the wrong place, or (b) asking questions I should know the answers to.
I did run a search on this topic but came up with nothing.
My question is: what, if anything, is known or rumored about the launch of a WRX STi wagon in the US?
A while ago (on Cobb's board) I read a rumor that Subaru was looking into doing an STi wagon for the 2005 model year. For me, this would be an ideal stealth-car with some practicality thrown in, and I'd sell my stock WRX wagon for one without hesitation (so would several other people, according to the responses). But then things went quiet and I've only seen confirmation of a Legacy wagon with a de-tuned version of the STi motor, which is interesting but not that interesting.
If it isn't going to happen, or even if it won't happen until the 2006 model year, then I want to make some modest performance mods to my WRX wagon - maybe just a reflash, maybe a downpipe too. But that would be cash down the drain if there's any chance an 05 STi wagon could happen.
Does anyone know if there's a date when the entire Subaru line-up is announced?
All comments appreciated.

From what I've heard they are not planning on a STI wagon. There will be a turbo legacy though. I'd say your best to mod your wagon, because if there is going to be an STI wagon, its gonna be awhile.
p.s. I have no intention of flaming you, especially because this is only your second post, but the administrators dont like it when people post the same topic in two sections. Just fyi.
GOOD LUCK!

I was looking for an STi Wagon myself and I came up with Nothing coming to the US. There are STi Wagons in Europe and Japan but none are planned for the US so far. I just Purchased a WRX Wagon and am very satisfied and if a STi Wagon came out I would be very upset. The best bet now is to get the EJ25t and tranny from a recked STi and have fun. Until you can find the $7000+ to do so just mod your car.
If you want some nice mods check out Vishnu /or TXS. Sad thing is that the WRXs Torque wont match the US STi's numbers of 300 hp 300 torque exactly. Even if you look at the Vishnu Stage 2 (which is deadly) you get about the same HP as an STI but the Torque in the STi can be matched due to a .5 liter advantage.

Even overseas, the current model STi has no wagon. Only the first-gen GD series and the old GC's (yeah I know they have different codes, ie GM6, but I can't remember them off the bat right now

Subaru will not build an Impreza Wagon in regards to STI perfomance. Instead they will concentrate on building SAAB's new 9-2X. If I say so it looks mighty nice...better even than the current series from Subaru. It will use the 2.5 litre engine and have more horse power then the current WRX...however, I think they need to do something to the interior:

wow did Acura and Subaru have a Kid??
looks like a WRX and A TSX had a kid and called it 9-2x... how cute. I would call it TWSRX hahah
Im sure it will be nice but think about this:
exterior is like TSX meets WRX and the interior is like a Mazda 6. hehe 3 of the top cars all in one... cant beat that

As for an STi wagon, I would love to get one. It would be the perfect car IMO. But, until that comes, I will just have to continue dreaming about the Legacy Turbo.
EDIT: I just looked at an offical press release, the boost on the Aero model will not be turned down.

I think the chances are not good for a wagon version of the STi. I think Subaru reserves the STi moniker for their rallying image, hence the sedan, although I think a wagon would sell well everywhere in the world. The big wing just shouts, "Hey, I'm an STi!"
