wrx transmission help!!!!!!!

i have a 03 wrx the other day i went to work came out and my transmission was making a knocing sound we took it apart and it had some water and a tooth of 2nd gear broke???? but my question is i want to put a old school sti tranny in it i herd there a lot stronger and there better geared please help need to know soon
