"Woom Woom Woom Woom" noise...

I'm hearing a "woom woom woom woom woom" noise at low road speeds (when the engine isn't loud enough to drown out the noise).

-It happens regardless of whether I'm in a gear or in neutral. (NOT GEARBOX RELATED, maybe?)

-The frequency between woom-wooms are proportional to the road speed, NOT engine speed. (NOT ENGINE RELATED)

-I'm not feeling any pulsing in the pedals or shimmy in the steering wheel. (NOT BRAKE, WHEEL or TIRE RELATED, maybe)

-It happens both on accel and deccel. (NOT BRAKE RELATED, maybe)

Just got the 30K service with the thousand and one inspections; dealer didn't find anything wrong. The noise was there before the service. I have no mods.

Could it be the drive shaft? Could something be amiss? Any thoughts?

If your car is a year 2000 or older your out of luck. Subaru only started warrantying (is that a word?) the bearings on the 2001+ cars under the powertrain.

I should know, I had to pay a LOT of money for two sets of rear bearings on my 2000 OBS. Although Subaru of America was cool and refunded most of the money.

Check your tire pressure or check them for irregularities/bulges.

Sounds like the differential possibly. Check to make sure it has the proper amount of the proper gear oil. In other words, change it.
