Should be fine provided you don't abuse it. I wouldn't worry about it as long as it's taken care of.

You know, this is such a contraversial subject. I've seen people break their trannies on stock cars...yet I've seen others hold up with setups such as your own. Alot of it does have to do with abuse and not knowing how to drive it, but I do believe some of the broken trannies were lemons. You should be fine with the stock clutch and trans for now. I'd just drive it til it fails, unless you plan on replacing it with something better down the road, then I'd shop around now so it gives you time to pick up a good deal.

Oh, and do not replace your transmission fluid with fully synthetic oil!! This only aids in breaking your tranny!

How do you figure? I've had redline in my car for 60k miles now with no problems. What aids in breaking your tranny is beating on it when you don't need to.

Sure, I know alot of people running Redline in their trannies. I did too, and mine also broke. And I was not racing, mind you. Pure synthetic oil is too slippery for your synchros to keep up with, which in turn, after a while, will aid in breaking your tranny. Sure, if you granny shift at 1500RPM for the entire life of your car, it will probably last awhile...but I don't know anybody who buys a car (turbocharged or not) that does this.

I have the set up you are talking about. Cobb AP, TBE, STi pinks, walbro fp. the only difference is i also put a throttle body on it. i have the stock tranny and clutch running with royal purple syn. the car in fact shifts smoother that it did with dino oil and the there is no slippage with the clutch.

Everything is made within tolerances and my transmission was fine until about 10,000 miles after I installed my VF-34 and was making 250whp. A bearing started going out, so it wasn't a driving issue it was just. . . tolerances. I have heard of stock transmissions breaking and I have heard of guys with VF-22 making big power and them holding up.

Now I have a Version 6 STi R/A 5 Speed with a 4.44 final drive, and I love it

You got the RA gears, Austin?? I thought you bought a complete 6 speed setup. Do you mind if we meet up sometime and give me a ride in your car? I kept with my 3.90 final drive but I've always wondered what the 4.44 would have given me. Hows cruising on the freeway?

I almost bought the 6 and ran out of money so I went with the Version 6 STi R/A transmission (Case and all) along with the 4.44 rear diff, which required R-180's so I had to go brembo's front and rear Darn ! Cruising is. . . . crusing ? It is ok, I don't cruise the freeway as often as I did, but it is tolerable. 5th gear pulls are definatly a lot more fun !

Oh sorry for not specifying, it is the Exedy lightened flywheel and I believe it weighs in at 14.3 lbs. I also have a lightened crank pulley, it is 4.1 lbs lighter weighing in at 1.5 lbs. I get a CEL every once in a while, misfire on cylender one, yes it is normal, from what I have heard almost every single flywheel setup will do that.
