Whenever I start up my car in the morning or after letting it set for awhile... like at work and I start to take off in first gear, I hear a quiet "clunk" noise as the clutch fully engages. But after that, it won't do it again. Then the following morning or after sitting again for awhile it will do it again as I take off in 1st gear.

Has this happened to anyone else, I'm just wondering if this is normal?

I have only had the car for not even 2 months now, and have noticed this happening ever since I got the car.

 

i was just going to post a topic on this. What is that ...it only happens some times, and can only be heard 1/2 the time, sometimes felt...I dunno...kinda worried...???

What kind of warr. would my car have ?? 2002 w/ 45k miles???

I experience this also and I have come to the conclusion it is normal and that it has to do with the emergency brake cable. I am not 100% sure but my friend who doesn't have a subaru but has a manual transmission experiences the same noise and a dealer told him it was normal... If it is safe park your car without using your e-brake and see if you experience the noise.
