Transmission compatibility with a manual 2000 2.5RS
Hi all,
I own a 2000 2.5RS Impreza, and I' m pretty sure I shot the transmission. I also need to replace the clutch (I managed 110 000 miles out of the OEM one). My choices are:
- to have my current transmission rebuilt (probably very $$$)
- to locate a 2.5RS used transmission and hope it's in good condition
- to use a 2002 WRX transmission I have found, along with the rear diff if needed... I just don't know if this can be done.
Also, I've set my mind on an aftermarket clutch found on Ebay, sold by GripForce, said to be able to handle a bit more torque than the OEM one. Before buying it, I wanted to know if any of you had heard anything bad about it, or if better choices are to be considered instead. Keep in mind I do not currently intend to modify the engine, and I am willing to spend at most 200$ for the clutch.
Thanks to all.

well, you could use another used 2.5rs, or you could downgrade to a longer geared wrx trans, or you could go for a jdm short geared wrx trans. My friend is selling one for 600 + ship on RS25, it's a bolt on affair.
