Question Transmission in 04 WRX

sorry if this is a repeated question. do you guys know if they have stronger transmissions on the 04 wrx because i remember people complaining about the 02 transmissions with synchros or something like that? did they also fix the clutch shudder problem in the 04 wrx?

Same transmission.

The only weakness really comes from people beating up the damn thing - DON'T DROP THE CLUTCH AT 5K RPM IN AN AWD CAR!!!!

You shouldn't have a problem.

Oh, and the clutch shudder problem has a TSB, which gets all vehicles with that problem repaired under warranty. The problem was resolved for the '03 and up mode.l.

It should be good for a "daily driver". Just don't mod the crap out of it and beat it up.

What are your plans for the car?

Actually the tranny is pretty reliable up to about 300 lb ft of torque at the wheels.

I wouldn't "test" that out. New tranys here in hawaii cost around $4000

We have a few "stage 4" 5-speed WRX's here that have blown their tranys.
