Tranny or turbo ?

There is a 2003 WRX for sale for a good price, exterior and interior good. 129000 miles but before I look at it the sellers writes:
the engine is revving in first gear and the car doesn't generate any power

Any ideas ? Tranny, turbo, what should I be looking for ?
Asking price is $2500.
Thanks
Heinz

it does seem like a shot clutch. but did the previous owner mention whetehr or not this was happening in just first? or all the gears? just first is most likely a bad syncro, all the gears not catching, yup, buy a clutch and replace!
