tranny question?

doing research on tranny upgrades and whole tranny conversions.im leaning more towards gear set from APS. could really use insight to this matter from someone or people, who have done this before.

One of the magazines did a WRX special and talked about the gearset change thing...lemme see if I can dig it up.

I would not bother with the gear sets. RA gear set maybe, but nothign more. 6MT is the real deal. More expensive but in the long run, it is worth it.

The casing for the 5mt is the weakness. It flexes which puts undue stress on whichever gearset you throw in it.

rumor on the street is that the FXT and Legacy GT trannys are a stronger cased 5spd then the WRX

would be interesting to find out for sure
