if you no how to shift correctly and dont launch a awd drive car at 6k plus the transmissions are fine.and the 04 model has the new 3-4 gear set already.

I believe most of the warrenteed bad tranny experiences are limited to the 02 WRX's... Other than that, I'd say most other tranny bad experiences are due to bad driving since the car doesn't take to hard launches very well.

the tranny is fine as long as you dont pop the clutch...slip it instead ...in other words put wear on ur clutch...not ur tranny...of course you'll run through clutches fast...but thats only if you launch a lot...now of course skill, driving style and mods all factor in...if you have a stage 2+, you have enough low end power to not need an 'awd launch' to win
