I put in the STI tranny mount and could feel the difference. Not huge mind you, but the shifter has more feedback. Easier to tell when the gear drops in. That with the short shifter and bushings make the car feel sportier by itself.

STi tranny mount cost about $70. Install isn't too bad, just have to undo the heat shield on the exhaust to get to one of the bolts. I noticed a smoother shift. I did the shifter bushings first, then put the trans mount on. Both showed significant improvements. The whole idea is less drivetrain power loss.

I installed my tranny mount the same time I installed my short shifter and bushings. It felt alot better than stock for sure.

Engine and tranny mounts have nothing to do with drivetrain power loss.

I was trying to do the same.

I would like the guy whom I disagreed with to elaborate first.

I think he didn't mean drivetrain power loss. I think he is talking about power loss as a result of having mounts that flex when the engine or transmission moves during hard acceleration. I wonder though, does one really gain any noticable power by installing stiffer mounts? or is it just one of those tiny little things one does to a race car to get every last bit of power out of it...

He said "less drivetrain power loss" so I assume he meant "drivetrain power loss". Power loss is power loss.

And, I am still waiting for him to elaborate on that.

That's why I posted the question, everyone seems to have a different opinion.

I installed the tranny mount along with motor mounts I notice a stiffer reponse obviously but other than that I couldn't tell you why I have them.

A better term would be "power response". The factory puts a softer mount for noise and vibration reasons. If you're willing to compromise a VERY small amount of NVH, You can help the power hit the wheels a little more solid with less flex. This means the power hits the wheels sooner and more directly becuse it doesn't soften the blow to the final drive and then snap back. Just a little more firm. Plus it gives noticalby better shifter feel... so just change it... it's worth it.

Is anyone using the Cobb stage one drivetrain package, short shifter, bushings, and mount. Is it worth the money and how do you like it?
