Neither of the mounts really do anything in terms of performance, I think. The only benefit is the "feel" of the car. While tranny mount really does elimite the "thump", the engine mounts really do not do anything besides making the car feel rough and shake at idle.

Of course, stock mounts are more prone to tearing and I think that is why there are those Group N mounts. After all, who would want their engine flop around on torn mounts during a rally.

At some point I had some motorsports only CUSCO mounts and the whole car felt rough. I got used it it, but anyone who would drive my car, would complain about them since so much noise and fibration would be transferred through them.

Now I have the STi tranny and engine mounts and I am going to take the engine mounrs out to make my car more civil.
