the sti's use a r180 diff. the wrx's and 2.5rs's use an r160 diff. the older turbo legacy used an r160 diff also. the diffs also have differnt gearing. the sti 6spd has a 1:1 transfer case so the r180 diffs are 3.90. the wrx has a 1:1.1 transfer case so it has a 3.54 gear set.
