That's not an STi shifter, it's a knockoff of the Kartboy and similar short throw levers with a **** that says "STi" on it.
Stay away from Ebay crap like this, if you want a short throw shifter get a Kartboy which is the standard-bearer for Subaru short shifters. It will fit your car properly and work well. You don't say what car you have but they now have models to fit both the standard WRX and RS 5-speeds, and the STi 6-speed.
There is also the optional Subaru short throw for both the 5- and 6- speed, they are excellent as well but a lot more $. Install labor is more as well because they replace the entire linkage and not just the lever.
