Sprung or unsprung?Clutch

If there a major difference between a sprung and unsprung clutch? does it increse your chance of breaking gears? I currently have a sprung act stage 1 clutch. I shredded it. So im looking into a act stage 2 6 puck clutch. any suggestions? comments?

The springs in the clutch plate are supposed to limit the stress to the rest of the transmission. So I would say that unsprung clutch would increase chance of breaking gears. Here in Japan, all the shops recommend using a clutch w/springs due to the Subaru's weak tranny. I've used both types of clutches in my GC8 STi. The unsprung clutches also seem to have a harsher engagement. I'd stick w/the springs.

Yeah, you don't want unsprung clutch. Benefits are minimal comparing to the downfalls.
