shifting in auto

when you shift in auto, do you need to let off the gas as if there were a clutch, or you can just shift through gran turismo style?

It wouldn't be bad if you had a tranny cooler. I will do it to my legacy, both ways hold on the gas as well as let of the gas when i shift..

When you keep the gas pedal down when you shift, the engine revs will drop and build up again till you shift.

If you let off the gas and shift, it takes some of the stress off the tranny (thats why you should get a tranny cooler) but then the ecu will kick in and downshift it for you when you get back on the gas.......... I have had that done a couple of times.....

I don't run a tranny cooler and I probably should but the auto trannys are stronger then the manual ones.
