I would suggest not buying an STI.

If your brother is in need of an auto, he should just buy an auto WRX.
Personaly I would buy an older GC8 style automatic which might only be around $3000, depending on year (they look the best too).

He could then spend the other $20,000+ on a STI engine and Rigoli racing auto tranny.

it is possible and i know who to speak to in Subaru of Japan.

check this STi spec-C out.
this car prepared by Subaru was designed for people who has disabilities in their legs. The car is controllable with hands.

more pics are in i-club gallery on top of this page. Go to Tokyo Auto Slaon 2003.

If your bro is serious about buying STi with such a modification, PM me and I can talk to Subaru of Japan for you and introduce you and your bro to them.
They might be able to give you some advice.

another thing...

If your brother just needs automatic, then clutchless manual system might be an option. Still have to shift, but no need to use clutch.

5zigen makes it, and there is a kit for STi and bolts on.
