It's all about application. What are your power levels/goals? Budget? The RA gearset is a much shorter set overall. First gear is slightly longer. This is beneficial for higher torque applications. The rest of the gears are very tight. Shifting is smooth and precise. There is hardly no gap between shifts. 5th gear is also shorter. You will be running at a higher rpm while cruising(more gas). Depending on your power levels usually a dog box configuration I.E. PPG gearset might only be 1st and 2nd, 3rd-5th RAset. Clutch flywheel, what are your power levels. STi goodies; Mike @ GST is selling everything you need to do this swap. $4500 bones. Mark my word, you will not find it cheaper.
Prices:
rebuilt with RAset ~ $2500
PPG + RAset ~ $3500
STi drive train ~ $6000

one time i going to race this kid in a blue wrx. i was in third gear and in the magic zone ready to take off. he had to put in second and could hear his car way up in the rpm zone if he raced me in third his rpm would be lower. i got him pretty good. he was behind and i knew his power might drop off after 6k but my turbo xs boost controller help me keep 17psi this redline and pulled
the gear and sycros can break just like stock get a 6speed if you can afford it. i got ra gears in my stock tranny it was a complete rebuild and was only 2g with new clutch add extra 420 installed (act clutch kit)
