Question about propshafts

Does anyone know if there will be any problems fitting a propshaft from a wagon into a sedan? Assuming ratio's are matched of course.

I'm most concerned about lenth...

Anyone have any idea?

Are you referring to the half-shafts from the diff to the hub, or to the driveshaft from the transmission to the rear diff?

I'm talking about the "driveshaft" that goes from the tranny to the rear diff...

Since my initial post, I've found out that a drive/propeller shaft is made up of two seperate parts.. Though they all work the same way... apparently subaru has made different lengths of either part over the years. The differences in lengths of the two parts in question changes the center bearing position under the car... As I understand it, the center bearing needs to be in a certain place to fit a particular car... can anyone confirm this?

After getting help with that part, my next question is... does the Final Drive ratio of the tranny and Rear diff have to be the same as the car from which the drive shaft was taken out of?...

Any help would be appreciated!... thanks...

jason.

I'm not sure about the bearings, but you only have to worry about the diff ratios if you are going to replace any of the three.

So what youre saying is that:

A car that has a 4.11 FD ratio cant use a driveshaft that came out of a car that has a 3.90 ratio?
