Over at www.NASIOC.com we have had a long-running discussion regarding how to tell if an AWD system is working as it should. My WRX is the 5MT, so it has VC units in the center and rear diffs, but regardless of the type of AWD, it is hard to convince a dealer that there may be a problem (like a weak VC) with no official, SOA-approved test procedure. The shop manual has nothing. I am hoping that enough Subaru owners will be interested in verifying that their AWD is working as designed that FHI/SOA will be persuaded to publish test procedures.
