Over-filled tranny?

Yeah so I changed my transmission fluid this morning (let it drain for an hour in case anyone asks) and like the smart guy I am I only put in about 3.2 quarts thinking to myself it would be a lot easier to add than drain oil right?

Well I check the level and it's like 3/4 of an inch above full! So I think, no problem, I'll just go drive it around and the oil will work in and the level will go down.

Well it didn't and I'm wondering if I should go to the trouble of trying to take some oil out?

Only thing I can think is that when I drained it it was still up on the ramps so some oil might have been trapped in the diff. but really the ramps are pretty low. *sigh* Why can't things just go perfect for once? Should I try to take some oil out or will it be fine? Car seems to run fine...

Did you just loosen the drain plug until it started dripping and left it for a bit or what?

Did you remember to warm up the tranny for a while. Flows out better that way.
