get the 12mm bolts off with a wrench?

no seriously though, your alternator has a washer-like piece that can be used to stop the flywheel from moving. put a bolt into the bottom left bellhousing surface, place the special little washer piece over it and get the dog (little metal fingerey part at the end of it) wedged in the starter teeth.

or the more i

think just get a rubber mallet, and whack the **** out of the 12mm wrench.

instant impact wrench. I've succeeded using both methods. Goodluck!

55lbs, go in a star pattern like you would with a wheel. i changed mine like a month ago. used an act street lite flywheel, no check engine lites for it being lightend. also have a lightend crank pulley too.

The flywheel is cake to get off with the right tool. Subaru has an SST for the job, but I just made one out of 1" x 1/8" thick steel from Lowe's. One hole gets bolted to the flywheel where the PP bolts in and the other to the alignment bolts on the transmission.
